The American Transcription Association

ATA-Petition

As we have previously stated, we believe that transcription services or any other services that involve EMRs, PHI, or other types of personal information should not be offshored (contracted to businesses and individuals in a foreign country).

Do you agree? Then sign the petition below! Our plan is to collect as many names as possible to send to Congress demanding that a law be put into place that prevents sending personal information offshore.

You do not have to be a transcriptionist to sign. You simply have to be an American citizen concerned about the way our personal and medical information is allowed to be sent to foreign countries, especially when so many in our own country need jobs. So please, copy and paste this link and send it to all your friends and family!

Please note: we will not use your contact information in any way except as proof that you have signed this petition. You will never be contacted by the American Transcription Association (ATA) or its affiliates for any reason, and we will never give your contact information to anyone but authorized receivers (e.g. a Congressman or representative) of this petition.

Petition

"I believe that no personal information including medical information, legal information, financial information, or any other information held to be private by the individual should leave our country's borders in any form including electronic or paper-based, especially without the knowledge of that person.

"Further, I believe that a law should be put into place that specifically prohibits this act, including for the purposes of sending transcription, billing, or other clerical work to workers in foreign countries where our privacy laws do not apply.

"I certify that I am 18 years of age or older."
